THE ILLUSION OF INVISIBILITY

This year we brought on Architectural Designer Richard Furze to craft our Kumeu based showhome. One of Richard’s signature stamps is his ability to use space in clever ways while retaining a minimalistic aesthetic.

A key design feature in this is the discreet concealment of some of the more mundane aspects of the house; butlers pantry, guest toilet and laundry.

Using the cedar panelling that cascades down the hallway, these spaces have been blended so well into the cedar wall that upon first glance, most people miss them when they visit our showhome.

This was an exciting challenge for us when building, as it required perfect alignment of every panel and a precise finish to create the illusion of invisibility. We were over the moon with this show home, but in all honesty, we make all our houses to be award-winning show home quality.

As traditional craftsmen, our passion is in the perfection and detail that goes into building. And when the details are so perfect they become unnoticeable it means we have done the job to our standards.
